Report on International Yoga Day 21 June 2023

International Yoga Day was celebrated with full spirit and joy in NKES HIGH SCHOOL on 21st June, 2023.   During the mass prayer , yoga session was organised by Mr Santosh Kumar.  Along with PT teacher and two students various asanas were performed.
Teacher explained various asanas and its benefits to students. Students from each class had demonstrated Surya Namaskar and various yogasan and breathing exercises  showing the strength of Yoga and the flexibility attained on doing it.
The day started with prayers and shlokas followed by the exercises and demonstrations. The session was held at school auditorium. Class wise students were called and were made to perform, making sure everyone participated in the activities.
Students were made aware of, it is the longest day of the year also known as the summer solstice. They gave a brief history of the origin of yoga. It is a gift of India’s ancient tradition.
Yoga is said to be practised from the 5th century. Yoga was actually done by sages as a holistic approach to God. The event helped us feel confident and content physically, mentally and spiritually. This was passed on to future generations.
